One of two temporary pavilions designed for the Kolkata Book Fair Pavilion. The pavilions rectilinear form creates a bold statement within the public space, while it's soft, chamfered dreamlike interior holds events, talks and exhibitions out of the hustle and bustle of the festival. Partially open on all sides the building can be entered form a number of controlled points. Based on the paths of two converging rivers the plan is intended to allow thoroughfares while creating pockets or eddy's of space for contemplation, relaxation and interaction. The undulating interior walls and floors provide surfaces to walk lie or sit on while steps are formed in the floor to allow small, medium and large groups to meet and converse. A series of small enclosures provide quiet contemplative space for browsing through the books on display, storage and staff facilities.
