The family's brief was simple, to provide a new family room accessible from the main living space within the existing house. GRAS saw an opportunity to improve the house's relationship to its garden and to make the garden itself much more usable, particularly for the client's young children. The proposal forms a series of internal, covered external and terraced spaces with a simple structure allowing a broad range of uses under different conditions.
